I had two customers running in to this problem, so I decided to post the information on here.
For our CATIA V5 tranlsator, we ship a lib3dx folder, and in our documentation we require the user to put this folder in their path. we also require the customers to ship this folder with their product using our CATIA V5 translator. I undrestand that the size of this folder is big and a few of our users have tried many ways to reduce the size such as just copying only the bin folder in lib3dx (since the documentation mentions to set path =c:\interop\lib3dx\intel_a\code\bin making it look like the only folder that is important is the bin folder).
Unfortunately, niether one of these methods is going to work. We use native CATIA V5 libraries. The entire CATIA information is really huge. So, we have taken everything that's needed for translating CATIA V5 files and have put it in lib3dx folder. Everything that is in this folder is used by IOP when translating CATIA V5 files. So, it is required by the user to ship the whole lib3dx with their CATIA V5 translators. And they have to put the whole folder in their path, not just the bin. Everything that's included in this folder will be used by IOP at some point during translating CATIA V5 files.
