Extracting material names from Inventor files

Would anybody be able to advise us on extraction of material names from Inventor files, please?

We're using Interop ACIS (R23 SP2) to convert an Inventor 2013 ipt file into a SAT file. Here are the translation options we have set:

TranslateSheetBodies : false

DoCheckAcisModel : false

TranslateWorkPlanes : false

Flatten : true

TranslateAttributes : true

Representation : BRep+Assembly

TranslateFreeCurves : false

After translation, we find that there are no SPAATTRIB_MATERIAL_NAME entries in the resulting SAT file. Therefore, our subsequent query via api_find_named_attribute() returns nothing.

Using the same technique, we are successful in extracting material names from CATIA V5 files.

If you've been able to extract material names from Inventor files, please would you explain how?

Thanks!

Re: Extracting material names from Inventor files

Spatial's documentation is incomplete. I don't know about previous versions, but I converted an Inventor 2014 ipt file with InterOp R24 SP2, using "TranslateAttributes : true". The SPAATTRIB_MATERIAL_NAME was indeed included in the resulting SAT file.

Best wishes

Re: Extracting material names from Inventor files

Hello Johan,drc,

Material support was added in R24 http://doc.spatial.com/index.php/InterOp:Release_Notes/R24#Inventor_Reader_Component .
