it appears that converting a SAT or any other CAD file format which contains spheres or toruses with a single loop to IGES causes the loop to sometimes have an incorrect orientation flags for the edge uses when trimming a face. i am attaching two files the original SAT file and the converted IGES file. i will wait for your reply as to a possible fix.
btw, when i try to read the iges file via interop and convert to ACIS entities i get a lot of the following example error messages:
