I want to thank Stacey and the Spatial organization for once again bringing the Spatial development community into discussions with the user community.  I think this new format will be much easier than the old mailing list and hope that the archives will remain in place and searchable as I often found answers to my questions in the oldest posts on the Acis Alliance. 

I did have a few questions about the site - can I set tags that are not seen by the entire community (for instance a particularly helpful post or a search result I want to save) or will all of the tags be global?  Also can I add an icon of my own?  I was looking for a klein bottle and I have a good graphic of my own I could add....

I hope to be able to post useful and meaningful assistance as the forum progresses and am more than willing to consider any questions put to me.

Hello Paul,

Thank you for your praise; it is much appreciated.  We are happy to be part of the discussion again.

To answer your questions about the site, tags are intended to mark messages for ease of finding messages by all users in the community and cannot be made private.  For private marking of messages, bookmarks should be used.  Bookmarks can be set under the Thread Options menu that appears above the thread view, and can be managed under your user profile. 

Personal icons can also be set under your user profile.  You can either choose a pre-existing one from the library or choose a custom image by referencing an image online.  There are various websites, such as Picasa and Photobucket, that will allow you to upload images to an album, which can then be referenced in your user profile.  We are also looking into placing a hosted area on the Spatial website where images can be uploaded.
