Hello Spatial Community,
To respond to some of the feedback we have received about the new online documentation, we are investigating alternatives for improving the search capability.
We have enabled a test implementation of using Google to provide the search function in place of the search engine that is currently in use.
We have made some comparisons of the two tools, and found benefits to each. Because we want to choose the best tool for your needs, we are asking you to take a few minutes to try out the Google search, and compare it against the standard search using the same terms. Please let us know what you think.
The Google search can be accessed here: http://doc.spatial.com/r19/index.php/GoogleSearch
The current search is still accessible using the standard search boxes found in the usual locations in the product documentation site or you can go directly to it here: http://doc.spatial.com/r19/index.php/Special:Search
Please add your comparison results to this thread. We are eager to know which search engine your prefer.
Thanks for your participation!
Best,
Spatial Technical Publications Team

Will the final implementation of the Google search have Google ads at the top of the page? I find the ads kind of distracting and because I haven't found the Google search to be much better than what we currently have, I'm not sure I'd want to use the search with ads.
Thanks,
Robert Tadlock

Ultimately, if we do indeed implement Google Site Search in the Spatial Online Product Documentation, then the answer is "no"; we will employ the ad-free Google Site Search engine.
However, we are still evaluating the two search engines and are collecting feedback from the public regarding their Search preference and the type of results they're getting as they compare the two.
