Code Freeze

by John_S Spatial Employee on 09-20-2007 10:05 PM

It's been REALLY busy around here this week - today was the R18 functionality freeze, so we've been engaged in a lot of dotting of "i"s and crossing of "t"s all week - one more iteration to do convergence and R18 is in the can (well, at least from the point of view of the developers - QA and Integration might disagree :smileyhappy: ).  That alone wouldn't be so much, except for the fact that our Insider's Summit is in two weeks,

If you haven't already signed up for the Insider's Summit I urge you to do so - it's a great opportunity to hear about all the goodies we've been putting into ACIS and InterOp and for you to have face-to-face discussions with Spatial developers and other Spatial customers.

which means that now is the time that we're all finishing up and reviewing our talks.  And, since all good things come in threes, this week also just happened to be the end of an iteration so we've been doing all of our end-of-iteration activities as well.  As you can imagine, we haven't been suffering from a lack of things to do!

And yes, I have been saying "iteration" in the agile development sense, but that's a topic for another day :smileyhappy:

I unfortunately missed the insider summit. Can you mention what new functionality may be coming out in R18?

Also, any consideration/comments on the below items for future releases of ACIS?

--G2 Blending, lofting, and advanced covering
--Support for multiple processors

Thanks:)

Hi Tim,

Our initial support of G2 Blending is being released in R18. The other items (Advanced Covering, Lofting) aren't scheduled on the roadmap yet.

Regarding multi-processor support... there's no new capability in R18 but it is on our roadmap.

Best,

How long will it take multi-processor support in R18 to come about? I too would like to know about any comments regarding futur releases of ACIS - G2 blending, lofting and advanced covering and support for multiple processors. Thank you.
